Battery & Range

The OUXI V8 Ultra runs on a single 48V 15Ah battery, with the supplier specifying a range of 50-65km per charge. That’s a supplier-stated figure, not a guarantee – real-world range on any e-bike varies with rider weight, terrain, how much pedal-assist you use, tyre pressure, temperature and wind. Riding on flat, sealed paths with a lighter rider and lower assist levels will land you toward the top of that range; hills, headwinds, a heavier rider or higher assist levels will bring it down.

If you regularly ride longer distances, or simply want the peace of mind of extra range without needing to charge as often, the OUXI V8 Ultra Max (Dual Battery) uses the same 250W motor and platform but adds a second 48V 15Ah battery (30Ah combined), lifting the supplier-stated range to 75-95km.

Charging input is 110-240V 50/60Hz, so the supplied charger works on standard Australian power. We recommend charging with the supplied charger only and avoiding leaving the battery on charge unattended for long periods.

Comfort & Ride

The V8 Ultra’s frame, long padded seat and upright handlebar position are designed around comfort first – a relaxed, moped-style stance rather than a leaned-forward road bike posture. Fat 20-inch tyres soak up bumps and give confident grip on loose or uneven surfaces, and hydraulic brakes provide consistent stopping power in all conditions.

The Shimano 7-speed drivetrain gives you a useful spread of gears for pedalling assistance on hills or when you want to contribute more to the ride, and the NFC smart card unlock means you can start riding without fumbling for a separate key or remote.

Safety & Usage Notes

Charge the battery using the charger supplied with your V8 Ultra, and avoid leaving it on charge unattended for long periods. Store the bike and battery in a dry, moderate-temperature spot when not in use, and avoid prolonged direct sun or extreme cold.

Check tyre pressure regularly, inspect the brakes before each ride (especially after wet weather), and allow extra stopping distance on gravel or loose surfaces. The V8 Ultra carries an IP45 water-resistance rating, which protects against light rain and splashes but is not a submersion rating – avoid riding through deep water and dry the bike off after wet-weather use.

Always lock the bike securely when unattended – see our alarm disc lock and Bluetooth tracker below. Wear an approved helmet every time you ride.

NSW & Australian E-Bike Compliance

The OUXI V8 Ultra’s 250W motor, with pedal-assist that cuts off at 25km/h, sits comfortably within NSW’s current power-assisted pedal cycle rules – e-bikes up to 500W with a 25km/h assist cut-off don’t require a licence or registration to ride, the same as an ordinary bicycle. An approved helmet is mandatory.

This configuration is commonly fitted with a throttle function, as is typical across this OUXI platform. Under current NSW rules, any throttle must operate as a walk/start-assist function only – limited to 6km/h, and it cannot be the bike’s sole power source, meaning pedalling is still required for normal riding. We describe the throttle on this basis rather than as a full-speed throttle, and haven’t independently bench-tested the exact throttle calibration on this specific unit – if this matters to your purchase decision, please confirm with our team first.

From 1 March 2029, NSW is introducing a reduced 250W power limit alongside a requirement that only e-bikes meeting the EN15194 European safety standard be permitted on-road. The V8 Ultra’s 250W motor already sits within this future power limit. We haven’t found supplier or manufacturer documentation asserting formal EN15194 certification for this configuration, so we don’t make that claim here – if independent EN15194 certification is important to you, please check with our team before you buy.

This is general information based on the current NSW road rules (transport.nsw.gov.au) and isn’t legal advice – rules can change, so check the official Transport for NSW e-bike page if you’re unsure, or get in touch with our Sydney workshop team.

Installation & Assembly

E-bikes shipped in a carton typically need some final assembly – usually fitting the handlebars, pedals, front wheel and mirrors, and connecting the battery and display. We can confirm the exact assembly requirements for the V8 Ultra when you place your order.

If you’d rather not assemble it yourself, our Sydney workshop can complete full assembly and a pre-ride safety check for you – just let us know when you order, or drop in and see us.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the V8 Ultra and the V8 Ultra Max?

The V8 Ultra runs a single 48V 15Ah battery with a supplier-stated 50-65km range. The V8 Ultra Max uses the same platform and motor but adds a second 48V 15Ah battery (30Ah combined) for a supplier-stated 75-95km range. Everything else – motor, brakes, drivetrain, tyres – is the same.

Does the V8 Ultra have a throttle?

This OUXI configuration is commonly fitted with a throttle function. Under NSW rules it can only operate as a walk/start-assist throttle limited to 6km/h, with pedalling still required for normal riding – we haven’t independently bench-tested the exact calibration on this unit, so contact us to confirm if this matters to your decision.

Is the V8 Ultra road legal in NSW?

In its standard configuration (250W motor, 25km/h assist cut-off), the V8 Ultra falls within NSW’s current power-assisted pedal cycle rules, meaning no licence or registration is required to ride it. See our NSW & Australian E-Bike Compliance section above for full details.

Why does the product URL say 500W if the motor is 250W?

Good catch – our supplier’s specification sheet for the exact unit we stock confirms a 250W motor, which is the figure used throughout this page. OUXI sells this V8 nameplate across several power tiers (250W, 500W and higher, for different markets), and our page address was originally set up before this was fully confirmed. We’re keeping the existing address unchanged so any saved links keep working, but the 250W figure above is the accurate spec for the bike we sell.

What's the real-world range of the V8 Ultra?

The supplier specifies 50-65km per charge from the single 48V 15Ah battery. Actual range varies with rider weight, terrain, tyre pressure and how much pedal-assist you use.

How long does the battery take to charge?

Charging time isn’t specified by the supplier for this model. Contact our Sydney workshop and we can confirm before you buy or when your bike arrives.

What's the maximum load and water resistance rating?

Maximum load is 150kg. The bike carries an IP45 water-resistance rating, suitable for light rain and splashes but not for submersion or heavy downpours.

Does the V8 Ultra have suspension?

Product photography shows a front suspension fork and a rear shock. This isn’t itemised on the supplier’s specification sheet, so we describe it based on what’s visible in our own product photos rather than a confirmed supplier spec.

What colour is the V8 Ultra available in?

Black, per the supplier’s confirmed specification. Contact us to confirm current availability before ordering.

Can Cool Bikes service the V8 Ultra or supply parts and accessories?

Yes – our Sydney workshop can service, maintain and help source parts for the V8 Ultra, including locks, a voltage-matched 48V charger and other accessories.

Specifications are based on the manufacturer’s supplier specification sheet provided to Cool Bikes and our own product photography at the time of listing, and may vary slightly between production batches. If any spec is critical to your decision, please confirm with our Sydney team before ordering – we’re also happy to help with a phone holder or other accessories to set your new ride up right.
