No. Legal power-assisted e-bikes in NSW are treated as bicycles, not motorcycles, so no licence or registration is required. Riders must still wear an approved helmet, the same as on any bicycle. E-bike rules can change, so it’s always worth checking the current Transport for NSW guidelines before you ride.
Cool Bikes e-bike rental in Sydney starts from a 4-week minimum at $70/week, with longer 8 and 12-week plans bringing the weekly rate down to $65 and $60 respectively. A refundable security bond applies to every plan.
