OUXI V8 Ultra Max Fat Tyre Electric Bike – Dual Battery, Long Range

The V8 Ultra Max’s extra range comes entirely from its second battery. Where the standard V8 Ultra carries a single 48V 15Ah battery, the Ultra Max adds a matching second 48V 15Ah battery, for 30Ah combined nominal capacity – effectively doubling the energy on board while keeping the same 250W motor. The supplier specifies 75-95km per charge as a result, compared with 50-65km for the single-battery model.

As with any e-bike, that’s a supplier-stated figure, not a guarantee. Real-world range depends on rider weight, terrain, how much pedal-assist you use, tyre pressure, temperature and wind – the dual-battery advantage is that even at the lower end of realistic conditions, you’re starting from roughly double the energy reserve of the single-battery model, which is what makes the Ultra Max the better choice for longer routes, hillier commutes or heavier riders.

If you’re confident a single battery’s 50-65km will comfortably cover your typical rides, the standard OUXI V8 Ultra delivers the same motor, brakes and ride quality for less money and less weight to carry.

Charging input is 110-240V 50/60Hz. We recommend charging with the supplied charger only and avoiding leaving either battery on charge unattended for long periods.

Beyond the battery capacity, the V8 Ultra Max rides the same as the standard V8 Ultra: a relaxed, moped-style seating position, fat 20-inch tyres that smooth out rough surfaces, and hydraulic brakes for consistent stopping power. The extra battery does add some weight (38.7kg net versus 35kg for the single-battery model), which is worth factoring in if you’ll be lifting the bike regularly – for example onto a car rack or up stairs.

The Shimano 7-speed drivetrain and NFC smart card unlock are carried over unchanged from the standard model.

Charge both batteries using the charger supplied with your V8 Ultra Max, and avoid leaving them on charge unattended for long periods. Store the bike and batteries in a dry, moderate-temperature spot when not in use, and avoid prolonged direct sun or extreme cold.

Check tyre pressure regularly, inspect the brakes before each ride (especially after wet weather), and allow extra stopping distance on gravel or loose surfaces. The V8 Ultra Max carries an IP45 water-resistance rating, which protects against light rain and splashes but is not a submersion rating – avoid riding through deep water and dry the bike off after wet-weather use.

The OUXI V8 Ultra Max’s 250W motor, with pedal-assist that cuts off at 25km/h, sits comfortably within NSW’s current power-assisted pedal cycle rules – e-bikes up to 500W with a 25km/h assist cut-off don’t require a licence or registration to ride, the same as an ordinary bicycle. An approved helmet is mandatory. The dual-battery system doesn’t change this – it adds range, not motor power or top speed.

This configuration is commonly fitted with a throttle function, as is typical across this OUXI platform. Under current NSW rules, any throttle must operate as a walk/start-assist function only – limited to 6km/h, and it cannot be the bike’s sole power source, meaning pedalling is still required for normal riding. We describe the throttle on this basis rather than as a full-speed throttle, and haven’t independently bench-tested the exact throttle calibration on this specific unit – if this matters to your purchase decision, please confirm with our team first.

From 1 March 2029, NSW is introducing a reduced 250W power limit alongside a requirement that only e-bikes meeting the EN15194 European safety standard be permitted on-road. The V8 Ultra Max’s 250W motor already sits within this future power limit. We haven’t found supplier or manufacturer documentation asserting formal EN15194 certification for this configuration, so we don’t make that claim here – if independent EN15194 certification is important to you, please check with our team before you buy.
